The Incident:

  • During a difficult encounter with Gordok Mage-Lord and multiple mobs
  • The group called for a retreat to avoid permadeath
  • Pirate Software continued running while others stopped
  • He claimed to be out of mana when asked for help
  • Cast Ice Barrier on himself instead of helping teammates
  • Two level 60 characters (Sara and Snupy) died permanently

Aftermath:

  • Pirate Software defended his actions, citing lack of mana and blaming the group for overpulling
  • Banned approximately 2,500 people from his stream following backlash
  • Left a discussion when confronted about accountability
  • Notable streamers like Sodapoppin criticized his handling of the situation
  • Community divided on whether he could have prevented the deaths

The controversy primarily centers on Pirate Software's response to the incident rather than the deaths themselves, with many arguing he showed little empathy for the hundreds of hours lost by the affected players.
