League of Legends players have discovered that the new free battle pass Reckoner Alistar skin is merely a recolor of his base model, sparking significant community backlash.

A Reddit comparison revealed that the new Noxian fighting pit-themed skin only features minor color adjustments - red hair, a purple tank top, and darker muscles - with no structural changes to the base model.

This marks a concerning departure from Riot Games' usual skin quality standards. For comparison, even the free Unchained Alistar skin (previously given to YouTube followers) featured unique horns and spiked gauntlets. The last base skin retexture without model changes was Enchanted Galio in 2010.

The community has linked this quality decrease to recent layoffs at Riot Games, which affected the art and cosmetic departments. Adding to players' frustration, Alistar rarely receives new skins, making this simple recolor particularly disappointing as it may delay future skin releases for the champion.

In response, some players are calling for a boycott of battle pass purchases to protest the declining quality. This controversy follows other recent community tensions, including the removal of Hextech chests from the game.
