League of Legends Players Fed Up with Excessive Client Advertisement Spam
League of Legends players are expressing growing frustration with the increasing number of advertisements in the game client, particularly following several controversial changes in 2025.
The main complaints center around:
- Forced navigation through promotional pages to access basic features
- Removal of free Hextech chests
- Increased focus on gacha-style skin releases
- Intrusive ads blocking access to the crafting page
A notable example is the new requirement to click through the Exalted Sett skin promotional page just to reach the crafting section. This comes alongside announcements of more gacha skins, including the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser release in season two.
Players have highlighted how this represents a shift in Riot's approach to monetization, with one player noting, "They did the same with the sanctum and the loot page, they don't care anymore."
This change follows other controversial decisions in 2025, showing a clear pattern of increased monetization efforts that's creating tension between Riot Games and its player base.
