League of Legends: Complete Critical Strike Guide
A critical strike deals 175% of normal damage by default and can occur on basic attacks, certain items, and abilities. Critical strikes cannot affect structures except for specific champion abilities.
Critical Strike Chance
Critical strike chance determines the probability of a basic attack critically striking. Key points:
- Starts at 0% for all champions
- Stacks additively up to 100%
- Worth 40 gold per point
- Modified by recent critical strike history
How Critical Strikes Work
The probability dynamically adjusts based on recent attacks:
- Increases after multiple non-critical strikes
- Decreases after multiple successful critical strikes
- At base damage (175%), each 1% crit chance equals 0.75% DPS increase
Sources of Critical Strike Chance
Champion Abilities:
- Senna's Absolution
- Tryndamere's Battle Fury
- Yasuo's Way of the Wanderer
- Yone's Way of the Hunter
Notable Interactions:
- Critical strikes scale well with attack damage and attack speed
- Some abilities can guarantee critical strikes regardless of chance
- Certain champions have special interactions with critical strikes
- Most abilities that enhance basic attacks can critically strike
Exceptions
Some abilities cannot critically strike:
- Camille's Precision Protocol
- Fiora's first Bladework attack
- Twisted Fate's Pick a Card
- Zac's Stretching Strikes
- Zeri's Living Battery
Structure Interaction
Only these abilities can critically strike structures:
- Fiora's Bladework (second attack)
- Jhin's fourth Whisper shot
- Master Yi's Double Strike
- Rengar's Savagery
Critical strikes are especially valuable for champions relying on basic attacks rather than abilities for damage output.
