Wukong is a vastayan trickster and the last student of the ancient martial art known as Wuju. Armed with an enchanted staff crafted by Master Doran, he uses his strength, agility, and intelligence to protect Ionia alongside his master, Yi.

Originally named Kong, he belonged to the Shimon tribe - monkey-like vastaya who turn to stone upon death. His constant pranks led to his exile, after which he proclaimed himself "The Monkey King" and challenged humans to duels.

During his search for combat masters, Kong discovered the destroyed Wuju village where he met Master Yi, its sole survivor. After repeatedly challenging and losing to Yi, Kong became his student. Through clever tactics involving smokepoppies and a decoy, Kong eventually bested Yi in combat, earning both his respect and a special Wuju staff. Yi renamed him "Wukong" in recognition of his abilities.

Today, Wukong continues Yi's legacy by defending Ionia against Noxian oppression. Though still proud and boastful, his training has humbled him and given him purpose. His reckless yet effective approach often complements Yi's more methodical style.

Wukong draws inspiration from Sun Wukong of "Journey to the West," sharing similar abilities like cloud-riding (Nimbus Strike) and creating clones (Warrior Trickster). As a vastayan adult, he is several hundred years old and continues to protect Ionia while preserving the art of Wuju.
