Items play a crucial role in enhancing champion performance in Teamfight Tactics. Here's everything you need to know about item mechanics and management.

Core Item Mechanics:

  • Champions can hold up to 3 items maximum
  • Items automatically combine when basic items are equipped
  • Combined items cannot be split back into components
  • Selling a champion returns their items to your bench
  • Carousel champions come with a pre-equipped item

Item Sources:

  • Carousel rounds (pre-equipped on champions)
  • PvE round drops
  • Special events and mechanics

Item Categories:

Standard Items:

  • Basic components that can be combined
  • Advanced items formed by combining two basic items
  • Each combination provides unique effects

Special Items:

  • Emblems (grant traits to champions)
  • Faerie Items (unique power-up items)
  • Radiant Items (powerful enhanced versions)
  • Artifacts (special effect items)
  • Support Items (team-focused benefits)
  • Consumables (one-time use items)

Important Rules:

Item Dropping:

  • Selling champions returns items to bench
  • Combining champions with over 3 items drops excess items
  • Trait items drop if equipped to champions with matching traits

Item Stacking: Non-stacking Items:

  • Emblem items
  • Blue Buff
  • Edge of Night
  • Frozen Heart
  • Infinity Edge
  • Last Whisper
  • Morellonomicon
  • Quicksilver
  • Shroud of Stillness
  • Sunfire Cape
  • Thief's Gloves
  • Zephyr

Most other items stack additively, multiplying their effects when equipped multiple times on the same champion.
