Items provide three main types of effects:
- Stat Buffs
- Directly improve champion statistics
- Most common type of item enhancement
- Passive Effects
- Constantly active while equipped
- Similar to champion innate abilities
- Include auras that affect nearby allies or enemies
- Active Effects
- Must be manually triggered
- Have cooldowns affected by item haste
- Some use charge systems that require replenishing
Unique Effects prevent stacking in three ways:
- Effect limitation: Prevents stacking of the same item
- Named Effect limitation: Prevents stacking across different items
- Item group limitation: Prevents purchase of items with same tag
Quality tiers organize most items, excluding consumables and boots. Some items can only be obtained through transformations, requiring specific conditions like:
- Accumulating stacks
- Completing explicit quests
All active effects share cooldowns across duplicate items, even if not all instances were activated. This system creates strategic depth in item selection and usage during matches.
