Team Liquid celebrates victory
The League of Legends Americas (LTA) Season One finals concluded with Team Liquid's victory, but the event's viewership numbers raise significant concerns about the league's future.
The grand finals peaked at just 168,852 viewers, falling short of a quarterfinal match between Cloud9 and LOUD that reached 291,301 viewers. These figures represent a dramatic decline from 2024's regional competitions.

For comparison:
- 2024 LCS Spring Split finals: 246,184 viewers
- 2024 CBLOL Spring finals: 459,846 viewers
- 2025 LTA North peak: 148,603 viewers
- 2025 LTA South peak: 254,464 viewers
The LTA's unified format aimed to boost viewership across the Americas region but has achieved the opposite effect. Cross-continental matches during playoffs performed better, averaging 260,000-291,000 viewers, except for the FlyQuest vs. Leviathan series (218,034 viewers).
The current single-elimination playoff format has been criticized by industry experts, including Caedrel, for limiting potential viewership growth. Meanwhile, other regions continue to thrive - the LCK's first split of 2025 peaked at 1,907,634 viewers, with its finals drawing 1,432,474 viewers.
These numbers suggest that while audience interest in competitive League of Legends remains strong, the LTA's format and execution may need significant adjustments to capture and maintain viewer engagement.
