Bungie has announced a second contest mode for Destiny 2's Sundered Doctrine dungeon due to widespread PlayStation Network issues during the initial launch. This marks the first time a dungeon will receive an additional contest mode period not related to server problems.
The unprecedented decision comes after PSN instability prevented many PlayStation users from participating in the original contest mode, which was scheduled to run until February 9. The second contest mode will be available across all platforms at a yet-to-be-announced date.

Key points about the Contest Mode:
- Forces lower power levels for increased difficulty
- Players deal less damage and take more damage
- Rewards include a guaranteed Exotic and rare emblems
- While world-first race is complete, emblems will still be available
This differs from previous contest mode extensions, such as the Vow of the Disciple raid's 48-hour extension. The Sundered Doctrine will be the first activity to receive a complete additional weekend of contest mode accessibility.
