Destiny 2's Rite of the Nine event introduces a groundbreaking Explore mode for dungeons, making endgame content more accessible to all players. This new feature will rotate weekly between three dungeons: Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghosts of the Deep.

Key Features of Explore Mode:

  • Helpful tooltips explaining encounter mechanics
  • Visual markers for navigation
  • No wipe mechanics
  • Shortened 5-second respawn timers
  • Perfect for learning dungeon layouts and strategies

Benefits Beyond New Players:

  • Practice space for experienced players
  • Testing ground for damage strategies and gear
  • Solo-flawless run preparation
  • Speedrunner technique development

The only limitation is that this feature is currently temporary and restricted to three dungeons. The community hopes Bungie will expand this system to all dungeons, including older ones like Shattered Throne and newer additions like Warlord's Ruin and Sundered Doctrine.

While implementing a similar system for raids might be more challenging due to their complex mechanics, even a basic free-roam mode with explanatory tooltips would greatly benefit new players.

The Rite of the Nine event begins on April 1 during Act Three of Heresy. This initiative represents a significant step toward making Destiny 2's endgame content more approachable while maintaining its challenging nature for veteran players.
