Cloud9 secured a crucial 16-11 victory against Mousesports on Train at the PGL Major Krakow, keeping North American hopes alive in the tournament. As the only American team in the competition, Cloud9's performance was pivotal for regional representation.
The match began with Mousesports taking a narrow 8-7 lead on their CT side, but Cloud9's defense proved dominant in the second half. Timothy "autimatic" Ta led the charge with 29 kills, while Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham contributed 19 kills and several clutch plays.
This victory follows Cloud9's strong July performance, including a second-place finish at ESL One Cologne. After an overtime loss to G2 Esports earlier in the major, the team will now compete among six teams for a playoff spot.
"We're still in it," stated Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert in a post-game interview, emphasizing the team's continued determination. With Team Liquid and Optic Gaming failing to qualify, Cloud9 carries the sole responsibility of representing North America.
